Massage at thepractice - paul khosla
HOLISTIC MASSAGE
Massage is a great way to feel more relaxed and to ease out any general aches and pains. I use a variety of techniques and integrate various styles of massage depending on what I/you/we feel may be most useful.
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE AND MYOFASCIAL RELEASE (MFR)
For those who like, or maybe need, deeper work, MFR and deep tissue work gets to places other massages can’t or don’t reach!
MFR includes techniques such as soft tissue stretches, deep tissue work, trigger point therapy or very gentle cranial work. Its aim is to restore mobility and freedom of movement, thereby also reducing pain and discomfort. By helping to release areas in the body where it has become inhibited in some way due to stress, trauma or tension, a greater sense of general ease and relaxation is commonly experienced.
ABDOMINAL
Massage of the abdomen and sacral area is fantastic for those with digestive issues. It is very gentle and often feels deeply nourishing to receive. We are used to having our muscles massaged, but often forget about our poor old colon, liver/gallbladder, diaphragm, iliocaecal valve!
Where appropriate, I might also recommend dietary adjustments, supplements/herbs, and some simple naturopathic techniques such as castor oil packing, enemas etc. I am a firm believer in the virtues of certain fermented food stuffs for bowel health and can advise on their preparation and use.
WHO IS MASSAGE SUITABLE FOR?
Anyone who feels they might benefit from some therapeutic hands-on work. Although there are few contraindications to massage, please note that I personally do not offer massage during pregnancy. Please contact me if you are uncertain as to whether the way I work might be suitable for you.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
Occasionally one or two sessions may be enough, but more likely half a dozen, obviously it depends on what is being addressed.
Many people choose to have regular sessions once a fortnight or once a month as a general maintenance.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
1/2 hr eg neck and shoulders - £17.50
1hr - £35
1 1/2 hr - £45
ABOUT ME
My first training was completed in acupuncture and chinese herbs nearly 20 years ago. Since then I have gained qualifications as a yoga teacher, and in holistic massage (ITEC), myofascial release, deep tissue massage, visceral manipulation and abdominal-sacral therapy.
I am also a member of The Devon Guild of Craftsmen, making and selling my woodturning in galleries around the south-west.
Days and nights off are often spent on my beloved titanium, rigid, singlespeed 29er mountain bike. Don’t ask!
